WebDec 20, 2024 · Newton's rings, plane glass plate; sodium lamp and traveling microscope. Formula used: The wavelength of light is given by the formula. λ =D n2+p -Dn. 2 / 4pR. Where D n+p = diameter of (n+p)th ring. Dn = diameter of n th ring, P = an integer number, R = radius of curvature of the curved face of the Plano- convex lens. Procedure: WebThe diameter of the m th dark ring was found to be 0.28 cm and that of the (m + 10) th 0.68 cm. If the wavelength of sodium light is 589 nm, calculate the radius of curvature of the lens surface. For the m th ring: [(0.14x10 …
WebThe square of the diameter and hence Dn 2 and D 2 n+m are found out. Then wavelength is calulated using equation. Performing the simulation: The simulation virtualizes the Newton’s rings experiment. The user can view the effect of Newton’s rings formed when the medium changes. Select any one type of medium. WebExplanation: From the above-mentioned relations, the diameter of n th bright ring will be: D n = 2 ( 2 n − 1) λ R. So, the diameter is proportional to Square roots of nth odd natural …
WebAug 8, 2014 · Distance between Newton's Rings fringes is does not seem linear. On the outer edges of Newton Ring patterns, the fringes are really close together, and much more uneven. Also, the spacing does not seem to decrease linearly at all as you move from the center. Why is this (if there is maths involed, a diagram would be very helpful for me).
