WebAug 31, 2014 · Easily larger than the chimney swifts. First thought it to be a nighthawk, but the wings didn't appear to be the correct length that would match the identification to a nighthawk. The wings were shorter and more rounded than a nighthawk. This leads me to think it was a whip-poor-will. However, the bird never vocalized so I can't be 100% sure.
